Common questions
When We Can Come
Got a question before you call? Here's what Miranda homeowners ask us most, starting with how fast we turn up.
How fast can you get here?
On-site in 30 minutes guaranteed. A blocked drain doesn't wait for a convenient time, so neither do we. Call (02) 9139 8009 and we'll get moving straight away.
What counts as a drain emergency?
Sewage backing up, water pooling around fixtures, or a drain that won't take water at all. If it's affecting your ability to use the house safely, treat it as urgent and call us.
How do I book online?
Use the contact form and we'll confirm a time, or call (02) 9139 8009 if you'd rather talk it through. Book online and $50 comes off the job.
Do you work weekends and public holidays?
Yes. We're open every day of the year, weekends and public holidays included, with a real person answering day or night.
Common questions
Money, Quotes and the $50 Off
Pricing questions come up a lot, so here's the model straight.
Is the quote really free?
Yes, every quote is free with no obligation to book. We look at the job, give you a fixed price, and you decide from there.
How do quotes work?
We assess the blockage, confirm the fix, and quote you a fixed price up front. That's the price you pay, no matter how the job runs.
Do you charge a call-out fee?
No. It's a $0 call-out fee whether we're quoting a small job or a full drain clear. You only pay for the work you approve.
What does "$50 off when you book online" cover?
It's $50 off your job total when you book through the website instead of calling. It stacks with the 10% seniors discount if that applies to you.
Common questions
Working in and Around Miranda
Some questions are specific to Miranda's streets and pipe stock, so we've grouped those here.
Do you work on strata and apartment blocks?
Yes. The apartments and townhouses around Miranda's town centre are common call-outs. Shared drainage on a strata block needs the same fixed-price approach as any house.
Do tree roots really get into pipes here?
Regularly. A lot of Miranda's sewer branches are the original clay laid decades ago. Mature root systems find their way into cracked joints, which is a common cause of a slow or blocked drain here.
Why do Miranda's older drains keep blocking?
A lot of it comes down to age. Detached houses built through the 1950s to 1970s mostly run on the original earthenware pipes laid at construction. That old pipe stock cracks with age, which is exactly what tree roots and debris exploit.
What suburbs do you service?
Miranda and the nearby pockets of the Shire. That includes Caringbah, Gymea, Kirrawee, Sylvania and Gymea Bay. See our service areas for the full list, or call (02) 9139 8009 to check your street.
Common questions
The Legal Stuff, Made Simple
Licensing and responsibility questions, answered plainly.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We hold NSW plumbing licence #275278C, we're Master Plumber accredited, and we carry $20 million public liability insurance on every job.
Who is responsible for a blocked sewer, me or Sydney Water?
It depends where the blockage sits. Everything from your boundary shaft into the house is your responsibility, and ours to fix. If sewage is surfacing out at the street and your neighbours have the same problem, that's usually a Sydney Water mains issue.
What warranty do I get?
A lifetime labour warranty on every drain we clear. If it's not right, we come back. No questions, no cost.
Do wipes really block drains?
Yes, even the ones labelled "flushable." They don't break down like toilet paper does. They're one of the most common blockages we clear in Miranda bathrooms.
