Miranda Drain Cleaning, Done Properly
1000+ five-star reviews
Not every blocked drain needs repair work. Most just need clearing properly, and staying clear.
We lead with high-pressure water jetting, because it scours the full length of a pipe clean rather than just punching a narrow channel through like a basic eel.
$0 call-out, fixed price before we start. Call (02) 9139 8009.

Drain Cleaning: What We Actually Do
Drain cleaning is about clearing what has built up and keeping it clear, not fixing a broken pipe.
High-pressure water jetting. A jetter scours the full pipe wall with pressurised water, clearing grease, silt and root growth in a single pass instead of leaving most of it behind.
Root cutting. A cutting head on the jetter removes root intrusion at the joint, buying real time before it grows back.
Grease and scale removal. Built-up grease from kitchen drains and mineral scale in older pipes both respond well to jetting, better than a basic eel.
Preventative cleans. Scheduled cleaning for properties with a known recurring issue, catching buildup before it becomes a blockage.
We will always say plainly if a clean will not hold and the pipe actually needs repair instead.
Cleaning and repair are not the same job, and mixing them up wastes money either way. A clean fixes flow through a structurally sound pipe; a damaged one needs the pipe itself put right.
If the camera shows a cracked or collapsed section, no amount of jetting will make that hold.

How to Tell You Need Drain Cleaning
Most drains give some warning before they properly block.
- Water draining slower than it used to, in one fixture or several
- A gurgle from one fixture whenever another one drains
- A recurring smell around a kitchen or laundry drain
- Grease or mineral scale you can see or feel near an outlet
- Roots visible or previously found in a line during other work
If it is a slow drain rather than a full stop, cleaning now is cheaper and easier than waiting for a full blockage later.
A slow kitchen drain in particular is worth acting on early. Grease sets hard once it cools inside the pipe, and a thin coating that would jet out easily today becomes a proper blockage within weeks if it is left to build.

The Miranda Angle on Drain Cleaning
Miranda's housing spans three real building waves, and drain cleaning needs differ across them.
Post-war Shire growth filled the residential streets with detached houses from the 1950s through the 1970s, mostly brick veneer with some fibro, while the town centre around Westfield has since been redeveloped with apartments and townhouses from the 2000s onward.
Around Parkside Avenue, that older housing stock is where jetting earns its keep most, clearing decades of mineral scale and root growth that a basic eel would only punch a hole through.
The newer townhouse and apartment stock nearer the centre tends to need cleaning for grease and everyday buildup rather than structural root damage, a different job with the same tool.
Either way, the jetter does not care what era the pipe is from. It clears what has built up, whether that took thirty years or three, and a camera pass afterwards backs up what the clean actually achieved.

What Your Drain Cleaning Quote Depends On
What moves a cleaning quote is the state of the line itself, never a flat call-out number.
- How far the jetter needs to run to clear the full line
- Root growth versus grease or scale build-up
- Access to the cleanout point or boundary shaft
- Whether it is a one-off clean or a scheduled preventative job
- Single fixture affected or the whole property
Older mineral-scaled pipes sometimes need a longer jetting pass to fully clear the pipe wall, not just punch through the blockage, which the quote reflects honestly.
There is no call-out fee, the on-site look is free, and nothing goes ahead until you say yes to the number.

The Process, and What It Typically Takes
- Assess the line. We confirm what is causing the slow drain or blockage before choosing the tool.
- Jet or cut. High-pressure jetting clears grease, scale and silt; a cutting head handles root growth.
- Camera check. Footage confirms the line is genuinely clear, not merely passable.
- Stand behind it. Every clean is covered for life, not just for the day.
Most single-line jobs are done within the hour. Root-heavy lines or a full-property clean can take longer, and we will flag that honestly before starting.

Whose Drain Is It, and What NSW Requires
Jetting and root cutting both require a NSW plumbing licence, the same as any drainage trade work.
High-pressure jetting in particular needs proper training: too much pressure in the wrong spot can damage an already-fragile older pipe.
We work under NSW plumbing licence #275278C, Master Plumber accredited, with $20 million public liability insurance.

The Difference on a Drain Cleaning Job
Leading with a jetter instead of a basic eel is what keeps a drain clear for months, not days.
We would rather scour the whole pipe wall properly the first time than leave buildup behind that turns into a repeat call-out.
Backed by our named industry recognition, and work that is covered for life on every clean we do.

Common questions
Miranda Drain Cleaning FAQs
How long does drain cleaning take?
Most single-line cleans finish within the hour. A longer run, or heavy root growth needing a cutting head, can add extra time, and we flag that honestly upfront.
What warranty comes with drain cleaning?
Our labour is covered by a lifetime warranty. If a clean does not hold, we come back and sort it, no cost to you.
Do you offer drain cleaning in Miranda on weekends?
Yes, seven days a week including public holidays. A blocked drain does not check a calendar before it backs up.
Is drain cleaning something a licensed plumber has to do?
For anything beyond a basic plunger, yes. High-pressure jetting and root cutting are trade work, and our team holds NSW plumbing licence #275278C.
How is this different from what my last plumber did?
Most likely they cleared the immediate blockage without scouring the rest of the pipe. A jetter treats the full length of the line, not just the clog, which is why it holds longer than a basic eel pass.
Is it worth trying a home remedy before booking a clean?
A plunger or basic drain snake is fine to try on a single slow fixture. If it comes back within days, that is the point to call, before minor buildup turns into a proper blockage.
